Memory is weak but present at birth. Sugar water on lips with stroke of forehead = baby sucks, stroke of forehead without sugar = baby sucks. Memory improves with age i. e. mobile studies = 6 months =25 days versus 2 months = 3 days. Reactivation experiences = if baby was brought in every few weeks to remind them - stayed for 5 months longer. Were put into basinette and were not connected to mobile but they could see that it moved. Present an identical toy that doesn"t play sag. 8 months later, child still looks at original song. Shows that infants have some type of image processing. Short term memory capacity increases with age. Adults remember 8 digits and 7 letters why do they get better: neural development - mylenation increases + frontal lobe size increase, experience - more experienced in reading + recognizing familiar stimuli. Self monitoring - being aware of how you"re doing.
