Development course of: understanding others, understanding social relationships and interactions. Development changes in: describing others, reading others" feelings, understanding social rules, understanding others" intentions. Social cognitive development focuses on people. John flavell: it"s the same head doing the thinking whether a child works on a conversation task or tries to understand people. Therefore, developmental course changes in focus form. Outer to inner characteristics as we get older, we start understanding motivations and personality traits. Go from can"t understand what other people are thinking to being able to generally understand what other people are thinking. Objects don"t talk or react to you and if they did you would be shocked. Two people can be incredibly different from each other, but an object can have an identical pair. Different people expect different things and this is what makes interacting with people complicated. More things that you have to worry about when you are interacting with people than you do with objects.
