Inborn predisposition to behave and react in certain ways: simple system, easy babies, difficult babies and slow to warm up baby, categorize of temperament, babies are one or the other, first major classification system (thomas and chess, (1977)) Easy babies, 40% of babies, don"t fuss a lot, predictable feeding and sleeping cycles, usually pretty happy, adapt well to change, little angels. 10% of babies classified as difficult, cry a lot more, higher pitch cry more draining, react very badly to new things, eventually develop, sleeping and eating cycle, spit out new food, keep trying eventually may like new stuff. Easy baby may not be as easy in a difficult household. Difficult babies, eventually become okay, parents traumatized that baby might hate them. Difficult baby does not hate you, just keep treating them positively and eventually they will like you. Found that parent can have impact on difficult child, as long as child does not change parent and child changes instead.
