Developmental psych talk about different aspects of a person and how this develops from pre natal existence right through child hood. Describe a behaviour and then explain it. Why study children? they have rapid development children become adults and we like to understand how children can become an optimal version of an adult they become, long term influences we look at. Also drinking and smoking in pregnancy is a good example of this. Directionality of development- if development were uni directional we would guess that as we age we get more complex, we get more as we age, that development means simply adding.
