Distress negative feelings of individuals with psychological disorders. Many people with mental illnesses are distressed by their illness. Dysfunction a marked impairment in the ability to perform everyday functions. The indidivudla cannot engage in normal social or occupational functioning. The behaviour is described as maladaptive behaviour they prevent the indidivual from living a functional, full life. It is possible that someone may have maladaptive behaviour on purpose, like a hunger strike. This way there is a reason for the demonstration.
