Interested in adaptations: the functional systems and subsystems that animals, including human beings are made up of. One of few remaining humans hiding out in a small shelter where space and supplies are limited. A group of people including: your sister, a scientist and a good friend arrive seeking shelter, but you can only save one. Adaptations: biological traits that help an individual survive and reproduce in its habitat. Adaptations performs a specific function that make an organism better suited to its environment. Ex. your eyes enable you to recognize and respond effectively to things around you by detecting and analyzing the reflected light. Adaptations exist to help one thrive in their physical environment. Cognitive psychologists study the adaptive functions of mental activities (cid:858)higher(cid:859) (cid:373)e(cid:374)tal pro(cid:272)esses: selective attention, memory encoding, memory retrieval. They break down large-scale cognitive processes into adaptive problems or tasks and then look for the adaptations that solve these problems.
