Genetics, maturation and learning interact in a continuous process across the lifespan. Not everything you know about psychology is true. 5 stages of grief: a universal path for dealing with death. Study that shows some people do this and some don"t. Evolutionary need to solve problems could be a positive turn for the individual. Treatments focuses on stress management for coping with symptoms. Disorders result from maladaptive selection and interpretation of stimuli. Cognitive-behavioural therapy (cbt: how do you think about yourself and others? (cognitive, how do actions affect your thoughts (behaviour) Brain surgery occurs to alleviate severe mental illness. Disorders are seen as the result of malfunctions in brain activity. Used in combination with some kind of talking therapy. Medication is used to get to a state where they can properly accept therapy. Within each of these options there is a need for evidence-based practices that are tailored specifically to the patient (or client)
