11:27 am: it is very difficult to stay on task within a long amount of time, vigilance is maintaining your focus of attention, we only pay attention to a limited set of information in the environment. Can"t recall the letters because your focus is not on them: change blindness. Very little information is being perceived about the unattended channel. In some cases, content in the unattended ear is perceived. Something that has great semantic value will breakthrough your focus of attention: objects in the real world have multiple features. Conjunctive search: multi-tasking is divided attention. Each time you switch from one task to another, there is a cognitive cost which results in decreased performance. Object tracking reveals limits of divided attention: hemi-spatial neglect. Paying attention to only half the world. Only eats from right side of plate. Their brain compensates for it by focusing only on the right side. Behavioural tests confirm a lack of attention.
