Social psychology is not as intuitive as it seems: our thoughts and behaviours are influenced by the people around us, common sense does not always equal research findings. Boys are more likely to engage in hostile aggression, whereas girls are more likely to engage in relational aggression. Conformity: has powerful control over our behaviour. Sherif and norm inflation: the autokinetic effect causes us to imagine movement that never occurred, experiment using optical illusion. Asch"s stimuli: asch investigated why people so easily converge toward a norm. Subject must identify which of the comparison lines matches with the standard line. Risky shift: groups decisions typically riskier than the mean of the prior individual decision, groups don"t always shift to riskier decisions than individuals. Juror that individually favours low award in the jury will favour an even lower award.
