Plato shows us rules through his book, plato"s republic. It"s not about doing things, but being a certain kind of way. So what socrates does is shows us, is what justice cannot be. We can"t be just if we"re doing things to reap the rewards and benefits. Socrates is being called out and called an idiot by presimicus. He showing us certain character types throughout the book. How certain characters interact w/ each other. Sophists were a group of intellectuals that toured around greece , took money and taught ppl to be successful in areas that people wanted help in, many people asked for political knowledge and success. Sophists would teach people how to be successful and how to win!!! Basically relativists, they didn"t care about the truth; only cared about winning. Weren"t oriented towards the truth, virtues or what what was right. Oriented towards making you believe that they are right.
