The problem of definition: the study of politics is so multifaceted that finding a clear definition of the field is difficult, ti wgat ectebt does the disiplene revole. Comprises a territory, a population, and a government. Is recognized by the international community as having the right to run its own affair free from external interference. Insitiutions formal insitutions of govermet are the most visiable elemebts of the govermebtal process: constiutions, executives, parliaments, bueacracy. Institutions are organized to achieve goals for society. Institutions explain politivs they shape interest, resouces and the conduct od political leaders, who in turn shape the insitutions. Law and policy: government enforce therie authority by making laws. Law consites of a special bpdy of rules issued by govermebt and backed up the thrat od state force: policy a broadly based framework within which decisions are taken and pattern of goverment action or inaction.
