Iv take the top 3 assign each to one level, and then take the next three people and randomly assign them to the levels. Matching variable- can be dv or something related to it; if interested in anagrams can use anagram score or processing speed; can be problematic to use the exact dv because then people can figure out the hypothesis. Matched pairs design- means you have two levels of the iv (matched groups means three or more levels)
