Focus on the meaning of life for individual - be the you can be. Desire to help person achieve understanding, wholeness, meaning. Bad are not born bad - event turn them bad. Focus on individual"s unique perception of the world - each individuals life is a slightly different world. The primary study of psychology should be the experiencing person . Choice, creativity and self-realization are the concerns of the humanistic psychologist . Only personally and socially signi cant problems should be studied: The major concern of psychology is the dignity and enhancement of people . Human motives are built in - not instinct - instinctoid: instinct like. Not dominating, or controllable - unlike animal instincts. Can be controlled and repressed or modi ed. Psychological needs - food, water, etc basic needs. Safety needs - shelter - protection from elements - needs for order, predictability and structure - freedom from act or danger.
