Rousseaus account of human nature: based on three main things: goods (human goods) Satisfaction of some desires = well being. Freedom: two types: (1) metaphysical freedom vs. (2) non domination freedom, metaphysical: In relation to, but different than perfectibility: pg 53: nature commands every animal the laws of mechanics explains nothing . Natural pity needs and desires: basic needs. What we would found if we were in the son. Ex: satisfaction of hunger, thirst, sexual appetites: perfectibility-generated needs. Generated by leisure, division of labor, perfectibility, etc. Needs we are able to generate given we have leisure time.
