Contingent pacifism contingent- just wars are so unlikely as to be practically impossible for the foreseeable future. Absolute pacifism- war is always wrong (fiala 463) Different lies in sensitivity to empirical facts contingent pacifism is not purely a theory of deep morality and not an ideal theory view it applies at the level of policy decisions under real world circumstances. Contingent pacifism vs. contingently pacifist contingent pacifism- a criticism of the larger war system based upon the claim that given the nature of current military systems it is unlikely that morally justifiable wars will be waged.
