Evil genius is the strongest criterion he has against the claim he knows something: (in order to know something, it must stand up to/be true in spite of the evil genius) The mind is easier to know than the body. If the deceiver is deceiving me about everything i sense, the red patch in space is equally viable as everything else in space. Firmly believes he knows nothing and can begin to meditate on other concepts he has previously forsaken using his existence as a foundation. What am i: body? no- evil genius could deceive feeling my body, rational animal (rejected) too complicated, speci cally wants to break away from. Aristotle: body united to animal spirits (rejected) do we even have a body, thinking being (af rmed) No body, only thinking being thought exists; it alone cannot be separated from. Bodies are known by sense (but sense has been rejected at this point)
