The italian schools of philosophy were more interested in mathematics and rationality than in origins, as the greek schools were. There are no other paths, and these 2 cannot be combined. He must choose: one way investigates what is. The other investigates what is not: the usual way mortals think is that what is not, is. (i. e. what is not hot, is hot; what is not cold, is. , contrast between reason and senses. If you want to know the truth, turn away from the senses (major theme in western philosophy, first introduced here by parmenides). Rather, one must cultivate their intellect: when we activate out intellectual mind, we open the divine beings that we are, truth had never had this much resonance or value. No one had thought about truth this way. Before this, truth was something to remember or something to receive from the gods; parmenides is the first to say that we should seek the truth.
