Peace studies lecture 9: wednesday october 5, 2016. Albert einstein- i am not only a pacifist but a militant pacifist. Nothing will end war unless the people themselves refuse war. Pacifism is a commitment to peace and opposition to war. There is no single form of pacifism. Killing the baby aliosha kara(cid:373)azov"s e(cid:454)a(cid:373)ple. You are protecting a jewish family, by hiding them in your basement from the nazi forces. Killing: do not kill, kill and murder, killing soldiers, killing innocent. The first concern of pacifist is the act of killing. War creates a way for people to kill and not be blamed so war should be abolished. The use of war is never justified. Consequentialist: the evils procured by war far outweigh the good that may arise: rule utilitarianism. We went to war with the nazis because they were unable to negotiate with.
