Document Summary
You will either be stressed about stress, or relaxed about the physiological response. It has been labeled the stress response or the neuro-endocrine response, or more recently has been called the psycho- neuro-immuologic response but all allude to the mind, body connection. A state manifested by a speci c syndrome of the body developed in response to any stimuli that made an intense systemic demand on it (selye, 1956). Stress is unavoidable, undesirable to avoid it. Stress is the spice of life -selye. Great stimulus to achievement, but can also cause disease, suffering and death. One person"s stress is another person"s paid recreation - dr. r. sapolsky: one person may be afraid of heights, while somebody else may love the thrill of rock climbing or cliff jumping. Mind-body balance- the confusion created when one"s mind overrides the body"s desire to choke the living daylights out of somebody who desperately needs it.
