Incidence and mortality: lung, prostate, breast, and colorectal cancer are 4 most common types of cancer in. Invasive carcinoma is the final step in this sequence. Tumor suppressor genes: allow for uncontrollable growth because nothing is stopping the cell, normally tumor suppressor genes would stop it. Important bc they target tumors and cancer cells and kill them become cancerous. Normal cell angiogenesis: occurs normally too, women"s womb, also needed for repair during wound healing. Inhibits production of growth factors from starting angiogenesis: interferon-alpha. Cancer cells produce proteins that allow them to keep dividing. Normal cells have finite cycles of cell division. Cancer cells produce their own chemical messengers and continue dividing. Cancer cells override stop signals and keep dividing. Normal cells produce the signal and the neighbouring cells listen and stop. Cancer cells ignore damages and mutations and continue to divide.
