Skeletal muscle are attached to tendons & produce; flexion, extension, abduction, adduction, pronation, supination, circumduction, inversion, eversion, rotation, protraction, retraction, elevation, and depression. Non synovial: bones are united by fibrous tissue or cartilage & are immovable. Synovial: freely moveable bc they have bones separated from each other & enclosed in joint cavity. Cartilage is avascular; it receives nourishment from synovial fluid. Ligaments support & help prevent moving in undesirable directions (bone to bone) Bursa: enclosed sac filled with viscous synovial fluid. Articulation of mandible & temporal bone, felt in depression anterior to the tragus of the ear.
