It is technology that opens up spaces for music that is marginalized and gives it the opportunity to grow and become influential. When this was developed the purpose and original thought was not about music. 1925 - industry standard speed set to 78rpm. Music industry beginning to rise to prominence during 1920s. Faster rotational speed the better the sound quality - 78 was a good balance bw speed for sound quality and the size of the grooves on the record. Sheet music still dominates but the idea of buying records and listening to them began to grow. Early record industry controlled by the same ppl who controlled tpa.
