Pitch: the relative highness or lowness of a sound; pitch is a continuum, the spots along this continuum are the pitch. Music theorists came to a consensus that letters of the alphabet would be used to represent the notes abcdefg. A feature of music that has to do with sound and their place on a continuum. # - sharp & b - flat: used to indicate the pitches that lie in between the eight letters. Chromatic scale: a a# b c c# d d# e f# g g#; provides all the pitches that can be found within music. Octave: a basic musical interval consisting of 8 notes (8 notes between a to a) Interval: refers to the number of spaces or steps between two pitches. Key: a subset or group of the chromatic scale regardless of the order their in. Major/minor: distinguished by the pattern of intervals used to create each type of key.
