Design is aesthetics (communicates through images, typography, colour, etc. ) and ideas (communicating concepts). Process of interpretation mediated through a world view. How we encounter and interpret things from a speci c standpoint. When we interact with any kind of design, we subconsciously engage. A world view is important to us as viewers and readers. Reactions to advertising and how they push boundaries sometimes. There is a shared set of codes and conventions ex. A design or visual artifact actively sells to re ect or refute normative beliefs that can appeal to and repel particular behaviour. There was once an advertisement of a man in a suit representing the windows pc and a man in a hoodie representing apple macbook. This advertisement was trying to say pc is of ce culture. The message contained in a creative work, distinct from its appearance.
