The use of imaging in radiation therapy guest speaker. Process: consult with oncologist consent, form signed by patient mrt and witness to demonstrate they understand, simulation, treatment planning, treatment delivery, follow up, done by physicians and nursing team. What role does imaging play: each phase has something to do with imaging, ct sim, 3d or 4d scan used to help us plan the treatment plan, daily we use igrt (image guided radiography) for xrt. Ct sim revolutionized radiation therapy: scans taken are used to best see the area of interest, help or diagnosis, now we can take scan and understand where the area of treatment is when positioning patient for treatment. Scanning the patient: scan limits are large, is part of lung is affected they whole lungs are scanned, need to do a dose analysis because lungs are so sensitive to radiation.
