Same scope as for gen rad, check all factors affecting: Patient care, patient dose, diagnostic quality of images, & dollars. Difference between mammo & gen rad: mammo has higher standards. Image quality requirements: higher sr & cr needed for detection. Screening tool: longitudinal consistency of images - these images follow patient through their entire life. Accuracy of diagnostic process (false positives, false negatives) Radiologist, medical physicist, radiological tech, administrator/owner (responsible if something goes wrong) Radiation safety of the department (correct equipment, right practices & policies) Everything in the department complies with regulations & establishes safe working conditions. Equipment maintained & qc carried out & records kept. Operators trained & qualified, techs in training are supervised. Keep records of occupational exposures (tld read outs) Collect & maintain record for correlation (positive mammo - follow-ups, call back procedures) Eliminate unnecessary exams (reduce retakes & reduce radiation exposures) Participate in qa program (ensure implemented, verify optimal iq, ensure qc equipment calibrated)
