Covering a larger roi in a single breath hold (shorter acquisition times) New detector types (original was xenon, now moved to solid-state) Stop & start scanning - slice by slice. Experiences artifacts - gaps in information leading to issues with reformations. Index : moving the table to the next anatomical location. Interscan delay : amount of time that lapses while the table is moving - allows for involuntary & voluntary movement. Acquiring images in a perpendicular imaging plane - slices are perpendicular & not slanted (no interpolation) Pauses in scanning add to total scan time. Large breathing time requirements (if you don"t break up the acquisitions) Large impact on dynamic studies (contrast media studies) Clear difference b/n different regions in the aorta. Opacity in the aorta is different (brighter the more you move up) Artifact happens bc blood is constantly moving throughout the patient"s body.
