MEDRADSC 2X03 Lecture Notes - Lecture 17: Absorbed Dose, Energy Distance, Photon
Document Summary
Any of the charts will be on the exam. The output intensity of radiation producing machine is measured & expressed as an exposure per unit of current x time under specific conditions. Hvl matters when talking about exposure bc it decreases the patient dose. Sid matters bc the farther you are from the tube housing, the energy of the photons decreases. Quantity of exposure applied only to interactions in air; nothing to do with interactions with tissue. The energy imparted per unit mass by ionizing radiation to matter. Measure of radiation quantity reaching skin surface. Ese can be used to estimate absorbed dose to various areas. Ese tends to correlate with absorbed dose ie. if ese increases, than so will absorbed dose. Absorbed dose differs according to location within volume irradiated - ese will not. Ese doesn"t take into account what is irradiated. Limits stated by both sc35a & harp regulations.
