Patient erect; rao/lpo (lpo = left aspect is against the detector, rao = right aspect against the detector) 35- 40 degrees oblique to not superimpose esophagus & spine. Rapid sequence imaging (watches contrast go through esophagus) of upper & lower esophagus; done in real time w fluoro (lies in the land b/n plain x-ray & ct image, closer to an x-ray)
