To call for assistance, codes are used; ie. code blue: grab a crash cart. Contains medications & equipment that are needed: be sensitive to complaints of pain & discomfort. Glasgow coma scale is used to assess neurologic functioning. The scale addresses the 3 areas of neurologic functioning & quickly gives an overview of the patient"s responsiveness. Can be rated a max of 15 points. If the score begins to drop after the initial assessment, notify the physician in charge of the patient immediately. The 3 areas are: eyes opening, motor response, verbal response. Level of consciousness is another indicator that a patient"s condition is deteriorating. Assessed with 3 parameters: ask the patient to state their name, date, address, reason for coming to the imaging department. Note any movement that causes pain/discomfort, any alterations in behaviour, lack of response.
