Canada was formed in 1867 and the federal government was given power to regulate trade and commerce": ex. Created for different reasons: provide services that were not being provided by firms, bail out a major industry in trouble, provide some special services that could not otherwise be made available (ex. Trend toward deregulating or partially deregulating industries. Trend toward privatization at both government levels: privatization: selling crown companies, involves capitalism. Laws are derived from four sources: constitution act, precedents established by judges federal and provincial statutes/laws, statues = laws federal and provincial administrative agencies, ex. Industry canada administers a variety of laws affecting businesses including the competition act.
