Assault & violent acts are increasing from 2004-2015 (6%) Methods: interview workers from 3 di agencies dealing w people w intellectual disabilities. High grievance agency: most workers women but more men entering the jobs. Context: de-instutionalization, discourse of patients rights, market oriented restricting of the welfare state. Findings: leaning of care work leading to more hazardous health & safety workplace. Production down to bare bones lean production: have min sta ng, more rigid work rules etc. Under resourced shifting/blurring of boundaries btwn paid and unpaid work. Stress : time crunch: dont know where to draw the line. Flexible sta ng changing employment relationships & impacts on patients (workers do not work patients; patients do not know workers) Thursday, september 14, 2017: suspicion, distrust, stress. Patients reasserting personal power men assaulting their wives and girlfriends.
