KINESIOL 4KK3 Lecture Notes - Lecture 8: Dysphagia, Nociception, Trigeminal Nerve Nuclei
Document Summary
Lcs c3 to c7: structure and movement patterns are similar, they do flexion/extension, lateral flexion to either side and rotation. Compare to lumbar spine: supporting the rest of the body, fundamental perspective needs to be very stable, small. Primary vessels: arteries travel up the tp of the vertebrae, carotids coming up, vertebral arteries coming up together, want blood in the brain (4 arteries, make sure there aren"t any issues within the arteries. Hx (history) of vascular disease, stroke, high bp: these things are like flags to us, might be at higher risk within the vertebral artery. Some acute incident brought this one, need to know what happened because there could be other concerns. Could there be a concussion involved: when they have a neck issue, a concussion is very possible, need to be considerate of this option, might need to do a scat. Are there any red flags present: cancer, infection, red flags from the lumbar section, spinal red flags.
