Parasympathetic nerves (vagus) innervate sa node and av node: control pace of the heart. Na+ is higher outside the cell to create gradient. Na+ comes into the cell to depolarize (intrinsic system) Para and intrinsic system control the heart: ach release causes k+ to leave the muscle fibre hyperpolarization.
