Resistance involves the demythologizing of culture and questioning what otherwise seems to be natural, normal, or taken for granted. While much of our behaviour is structured, individuals always retain agency. Even though we live within structure: all tend to eat similar types of food, ex. People who act with agency are said to offer resistance: ex. Those combatting agency by competing in athletics at ages people don"t associate with being physically active, wouldn"t think they would participate. Goes against normal assumptions of older people being too old to exercise. Facts do not explain themselves a relationship does not explain itself: ex. Back catchers being white why is that more common: could be self selection theory could be due to choosing a position that they associate with a position where their race. The importance of theory when doing research is represented most often: ex. Importance of the body now compared to 20 years ago.
