34 views5 pages

Document Summary

Multi-planar stress: most of the time, almost 100%, the mechanical load is multi-planar, no menisci ligaments will fail if you don"t one thing to them, requires multi- planar stress to tear it apart, rotation, valgus and varus. Torn meniscus doesn"t cause a lot of bleeding in joint. Acl/pcl have lots of blood supply to them, will cause a lot of bleeding into joint reasonably quickly. If swelling is slow or delayed, swelling is a product of synovial membrane creating fluid; process of increasing synovial fluid production is slow unlike bleeding. Didn"t have a quick bleed into joint maybe its not acl/pcl. Acl/pcl cause a lot of immediate bleeding fast swelling. Hw this will change arom/prom (passive extension may be difficult because hamstrings are resisting it ) Change in wb (weight-bearing) status changes as inflammatory process changes: if person is becoming less and less functional / weight bearing ability is decreasing, more severe injury.
