Document Summary

Fascia (dense regular ct) outermost layer that surrounds groups of muscle that have similar jobs: epimysium (dense regular) outer layer that surrounds individual muscles and is attached to the fascia; bundles all the fascicles together. Ct that surrounds the fascicles is the perimysium (dense regular ct: endomysium separates the individual muscles (loose reticular ct) and fills in the gaps, each layer extends the entire length of the muscle from the tendon. In each muscle cell, groups of proteins (myofibril) organized into long cylinders and run the entire length. Fascicle structure: perimysium surrounds the fascicles, each individual cylinder is the muscle cell. Between cells, there is the endomysium: each muscle fiber (myofibril) has its own nerve from the somatic nervous system. Neurons have to penetrate through all the ct layers. Once it gets into the perimysium, it will branch off such that one motor neuron can serve multiple muscle cells.
