Descartes believes that the mind and body should be treated separately. People used to think that disease was caused by a higher power. Descartes separated the mind from the body, said we can study the body to allow science to coninue. This inluenced western medicine and the biomedical model of health for over 300 years. Mind is inluenced by nervous, endocrine and immune systems. You want to be alone, eat soup, lay in bed, watch movies.
