Anterior compartment: we have two retinacula to retain : one superior and one inferior. Made up of white tissue (collagen) web that holds/ retains the tendons against the from of the ankle so they don"t pop out. Talo-crural joint centre: : ant tensions that go in front of centre, they will dorsi ex and if they go to the back, they will plantar ex: all muscles in the anterior compartment dorsi ex. Sub-talar joint: tibialis anterior: will cause inversion, extensor hallucis longus: goes to hallux; goes to medial side and will act to invert/ causes inversion. Also crosses mtp and ip joints: extend big toe: extensor digitorum longus: goes to digits and hang on lateral side of joint and causes eversion. Also crosses mtp and ip joints: extends rest of toes.
