At region of uterus, the opening is the cervix which leads to vagina which leads to the outside of the body. All of the external parts of called the vulva (many regions) Mons pubis is adipose region that covers & protects the pubis symphisis. Clitoris is an erectile tissue found on the anterior side of the external reproductive system. Layers of soft tissue; outer is the labium majus (majora); inner is the labium minus (minora); cover over the opening to keeping bacteria out of the area. Pair of organs in upper pelvic region about the size of almonds. Endocrine: produce the hormones estrogen, progesterone, inhibin, & relaxin. Exocrine: produce gametes, secondary oocytes which mature into ova upon fertilization; start w a stem cell that is able to multiply many times. Once they hit puberty, the hormones will start to stimulate the primary oocytes to turn into secondary oocytes.
