KINESIOL 1E03 Lecture 30: motor control individual differences
Document Summary
Involves manipulating one variable to determine if changes in one variable causes change to another variable. Relies on controlled methods, random assignment and the manipulation of variables to test hypothesis: differential method: Method of understanding behaviour by focusing on observed differences between/ amongst groups. Focuses on identi cation and measurements of individual abilities and traits. How does an individual differ, or deviate, from the average: observation without manipulation, focuses on what underlying factors may differentiate people from one another. As we know there are differences between skilled movements and actions. There is also a difference between abilities and capabilities (skills) Depend on presence of different subsets and abilities. General ability vs. speci c abilities: general motor ability hypothesis. One, single global ability forms the basis fro all motor behaviour ( thus skilled movements: speci c motor ability hypothesis. A large number of speci c, independent and different motor abilities are the basis for every type of motor skill.
