HUMBEHV 2B06 Lecture Notes - Lecture 1: B. F. Skinner, Classical Conditioning, Operant Conditioning
Document Summary
Aba is the scienti c study of human behaviour. Aba provides the scienti c foundation to make changes in all of those areas. Two models of learning in psychology: classical pavlovian / respondent conditioning. Stimulus: environmental event that brings about a response: operant/ skinnerian conditioning. Today we still talk about the behavioural models pavlovian vs operant conditioning. Aba came about 1968, dimension: baer, wolf and risley. Classical conditioning= basis of modern day behaviour therapy. Behaviour therapy: model used to explain and modify emotional reactions. Operant conditioning was developed in the 1930s by dr bf skinner, harvard university psych prof. Worked with animals, and thousands of experiments have proven his work with humans. Basic: attempting to prove a theory, typically animal research or examining basic human processes (ex digestion etc) Applied: research for socially signi cant problems, applied to humans (modifying environmental impact, smoking etc)
