Document Summary

Hs 2rr3: social determinants of health lomoarc psd| 2151316: early poverty is most detrimental to later educational and occupational outcomes of a child o. Canadians: consequences of family poverty, poverty creates stressors, isolates people socially, deprives them of food; lower life expectancy, for mothers. Impoverished mothers, especially in bad neighbourhoods, are particularly vulnerable to failure as mothers- circumstances under which they raise their child are unfair disadvantage. Ability to supervise their children is often undermined. However, rates of negative child outcome are surprisingly not higher in impoverished families- many turn out perfectly fine. Success in socialization goals is seen in terms of sheltering children from the pitfalls of self-destruction . Goals such as reading and language skills are often a luxury: for fathers. Less extensively studied- mostly because they are often absent in indigent families. Denies the chance of developing adequately and securely from beginning of lives.
