Define cardiac output, stroke volume and heart rate. Describe the factors that affect stroke volume. Describe the factors that regulate heart rate. Fibers swirl diagonally around heart in bundles. Heart wrings blood out of the ventricles. Endocardium is continuous and provides a non-thrombogenic layer for the blood. Cell membrane contains sarcolemma; cell membrane of cardiac muscle tissue (cid:3202) contains intercalated disks which contains desmosomes (cid:3202) desmosomes: helps fibres attach together + contains cell junctions. Allows electrical signals move through + allows stimulation of muscle. Known as a functional syncytium because of the gap junctions allowing the tissues myocardium to behave as a single unit. Av node: located in the interventricular septum/ floor of right atrium spread to the av node the same time (cid:3202) av node bundle of his interventricular septum apex heart walls .
