Document Summary
Lecture 4: vascular system and hemodynamics: aorta: 4 principle divisions. Ascending aorta: comes off the left ventricle: r and l coronary arteries. Arch of the aorta: falls behind heart afterwards and becomes the descending aorta: brachiocephalic trunk, r. common carotid, r. subclavian, l. subclavian, l. carotid. Thoracic aorta: gives rise to branches for: pericardium, esophagus, bronchi, diaphragm, intercostal and chest muscles, mammary gland, skin, vertebrae and spinal cord. Abdominal aorta: abdominal and pelvic viscera and lower extremities. Abdominal aorta branches: unpaired: u(cid:374)paired arteries (cid:894)suppl(cid:455) gi tra(cid:272)t(cid:895), the(cid:455) do(cid:374)"t ha(cid:448)e 2 (cid:373)at(cid:272)hi(cid:374)g arteries (cid:272)o(cid:373)i(cid:374)g off of the aorta. Supplies the liver, the stomach, the spleen, the pancreas and the duodenum supplies the pancreas and part of the small and large intestine supplies the rest of the large intestine. Abdominal aorta branches: paired: paired arteries (have two arteries coming off because they supply two glands)
