Elder abuse a social problem: estimated that between 4 percent and 10 percent of older adults in canada experience some type of abuse. Abuse of older adults: lack a appropriate action can be direct or indirect in one instance or multiple. In any relationship where their is a sense of trust. Common forms of abuse: elder abuse take many form, financial, physical, emotional/psychological, sexual, neglect either self-neglect by seniors or neglect by other, spiritual, systemic ageism (big in society) Financial abuse: extortion emotional blackmail, robbery goods, cash, embezzlement savings, stealing from accounts, telemarketing schemes, fraudulent preauthorized payment plans anyone with access to banking info, video financial elder abuse. Identity theft bank machines: man was keeping his mother money when she couldn"t handle it, financial is most common form of elder abuse. Psychological or emotional: attacks on individuals dignity or self, humiliation, threats, verbal abuse, degrading remarks. Ignoring or secluding: video , yells at grand ma with degrading remarks.
