Strategies to combat abuse against older persons: resources. May affect seniors in all walks of life: anyone can have this. Anyone can be a victim and anyone can be a perpetrator: can happen in any setting. Abuse and neglect any action or inaction by any person, which causes harm to the older or vulnerable person: cause harm to the older person or limiting opportunity, no socializing, no food, etc. Types of abuse: physical, psychosocial, financial, neglect (active or passive), institutional abuse, and domestic violence: most abuse against older persons comes from family members. Admit that you"re the victim, that you"re component and that you"re a bad parent because the way your kids are treating you. Four social changes explain increased interest in abuse: growth of the older population. Attention to other issues about them: the increased political power of older people.
