When she suffers she does it in silence. She does not really like williby- she thinks he is acting- by saying things too soon- making her suspicious. She has fallen in love with edward before her father died. Northanger abbey -> na ve, unrealistic, country girl, almost like a fairytale. He has a weakness- his dark past that he is hiding one. He has to tend to his wealthy aunt. This type of character is prevalent in most austen novels. He is actually leaving because he is trying to break the love marianne.
