GEOG 3LT3 Lecture 3: GEOG 3LT3
Document Summary
There is a pattern that people who live 5km away from mcmaster are from a different part of hamilton (ie not close to mcmaster) and lived there most of their lives. People who live within 1km to mcmaster are originally from elsewhere and move there from somewhere else. There can be several reasons for living anywhere that you live. Typically the rent is higher closer to the university, however transportation costs to get to school might be less. People who live more than 5km away, are originally from hamilton and live with their parents so they don"t pay rent but their transportation costs are higher. We are still reliant on one type of mobility: motor vehicles which consume fossil fuels. This reliance will eventually result in the increased cost of transportation commensurate with the increase in price of fossil fuels (will this force us to change how we get around?)
