These categories, when expressed on the urban landscape, we call them urban land uses^ Residential areas: among the most complex/diverse components of urban land uses. From inner city to suburban, from rich to poor, from new to old, etc. very diverse. Industrial areas: heavy (traditional) industrial production e. g. hamilton"s north-end. ^^^^today however, light innovative production, e. g. mcmaster innovation pk, high- tech food processing, airport lands. Commercial areas: of ce, head of ce (downtown) back of ces (suburban) regional of ces (edge cities) ^^^also retail> store front, suburban shopping, shopping malls, retail power centres, Transportation: roads, rail lines, airports, parking lots, warehousing lines, electricity lines. Public areas: parks, civic plazas, government buildings, arenas/stadiums. All cities are compromised of these varied urban land uses, municipalities produce mass that re ect this. Organization of urban space into these land uses;known as urban structure. Urban structure: the arrangement of land uses in cities, related to urban morphology.
